Como si un cuchillo invisible lo atravesara, la forma se rompe. El alfarero, paciente, saca la dureza, humedece el barro y comienza de nuevo.
Días después, Dios mandó a Jeremías a la casa del alfarero a comprar una vasija de barro ya endurecido. Le pide que la deje caer a tierra. El profeta obedece. La vasija se quebró, y ya no se pudo restaurar.
